Travis Scott posts video online about Astroworld festival tragedy

“Honestly, I’m just devastated,” Scott said, sighing several times and rubbing his forehead.

“We are currently working to identify families so that we can help them through this difficult time,” Scott said.

Some spectators criticized the organizers for continuing the show even as numb people received CPR and carried away, but Scott said he was unaware of the gravity of things. “Anytime I could figure out, you know, everything that was going on, you know, I just stopped my show and, you know, I helped them get the help they need.”

Video from the live broadcast of the concert showed Scott pausing his performance and watching in confusion as an ambulance rushed through the crowd before ending the concert.

The cause of death has not been determined and authorities have not disclosed the identity of the victims.

“Our hearts are with the family of the Astroworld festival tonight, especially those we have lost and their loved ones,” Astroworld organizers said in a statement on Saturday. “We are focused on supporting local officials as much as we can.”

Scott, originally from Houston, has several philanthropic projects in the community aimed at providing resources to the youth of the city. The third annual festival, which is part of a week of charitable activities where Scott and his partners unveiled several park education and beautification projects, is named after his 2018 album “Astroworld”.

“My prayers are with the families and all those affected by what happened at the Astroworld festival,” Scott tweeted on Saturday. “Houston PD has my full support as they continue to investigate the tragic loss of life.”
