Shotcut is a free, open source, cross-platform video editor for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Adding markers to the timeline

  • Click the toolbar button or press M the first time to add a marker to the playhead (current position) without dialogue.
  • The markers appear in the time / track / line ruler at the top of the timeline.

  • Click on a marker to search for it.
